If your Vietnam eVisa is not ready in time, what happens depends on when the result is expected: before airline check-in, after check-in, or after you land. Airlines check documents at check-in, so that is usually the real deadline. If VietVisaGo cannot deliver the service it agreed with you, it refunds 100% of the total you paid to VietVisaGo.

This guide is written by the VietVisaGo Visa & Airport Support Team. VietVisaGo is a private assistance service based in Port Macquarie NSW, Australia. We are not the Vietnamese government or the official eVisa portal, and every visa decision is made by the Vietnam Immigration Department.

What happens if my Vietnam visa is not ready before my flight?

Compare the expected visa result with three times: your airline check-in deadline, your scheduled departure and your arrival in Vietnam. Where the result falls against those times decides which route is realistic.

When the visa result is expectedWhat it means for your tripPossible route
Before airline check-inYou can show your eVisa at check-in as normalA speed-up service, if one fits
After check-in, before landingYou may need a document to support check-inVietVisaGo VOA Support, if offered for your case
After landing in VietnamYou must wait for the visa before entryVOA Support with arrival waiting arrangement, when available
No suitable option shownYour timing cannot be coveredContact the team; speak to your airline about new dates

Options depend on your nationality, flight time, airport time zone, processing cut-offs and holidays. Our visa check only shows the options that can still fit your flight.

Why does check-in matter more than departure time?

Airlines check passports and entry documents at check-in and may refuse boarding if you cannot show valid permission to enter Vietnam. A visa result expected one hour before departure can still be too late, because check-in may already have closed.

VietVisaGo uses 3 hours before departure as its check-in reference point when reviewing check-in support. Each airline sets its own cut-off, so confirm yours and plan around whichever time is earlier. Work through it in this order:

  1. Find your airline's check-in closing time for this flight.
  2. Convert every time to one time zone, ideally the departure airport's local time.
  3. Compare the expected visa result with check-in first, then with your Vietnam arrival time.

What should I do first if my eVisa is still pending?

Read the exact message on the official eVisa status search, then bring your three times together and enter your details in the visa check. Do not start a second application straight away; keep your existing registration code and the email used to apply.

If your status shows a correction request or a refusal, send the complete status message to the team for review before you book a pending-application option. These situations need a case review.

For an application that is still processing, speed-up support starts from US$99 per applicant. Faster priority and weekend options become the choices as departure gets closer; the visa check shows which ones still fit and their current prices are on Vietnam visa pricing. What if the result is expected after check-in?

When the selected route includes VietVisaGo VOA Support, a document is provided to support airport check-in while your visa is being processed. Its price is shown on Vietnam visa pricing, and waiting charges may apply. It is not a walk-up visa: you still enter Vietnam using your visa once it is issued. Share any confirmed support document with your airline and follow its check-in instructions.

What if the result is expected after I land?

You need to wait at the airport until the visa is available before completing entry. Discuss the expected wait and the selected support with the team before you confirm, so you know what the arrangement covers.

Keep your entry point in mind too. An eVisa restricts you to the entry point chosen when applying, so landing at a different airport than the one on your application can cause problems at immigration. Speak to your airline before changing flights.

Do I get a refund if my visa is not ready in time?

VietVisaGo agrees the processing timeframe with you before payment. If it cannot deliver the agreed visa service, you receive a 100% refund of what you paid to VietVisaGo.

To request a refund, contact the team with your booking reference and the email or mobile used for the booking, your payment receipt and a short explanation of the issue. The time for funds to appear depends on your payment provider. Full details are in our refund policy.

Which details should I keep ready?

  • Application code, the email used to apply and the exact current status
  • Passport nationality and traveller details
  • Departure airport, local departure time and Vietnam arrival time
  • Airline and any connecting flights
  • Your VietVisaGo booking reference and the written confirmation of the agreed service and timeframe

Questions travellers ask when the visa is not ready

Who decides whether my eVisa is approved?

Vietnam Immigration decides every application. VietVisaGo is a private support service: it agrees a processing timeframe for the service you book before payment, and refunds 100% if it cannot deliver that agreed service.

When is the VietVisaGo timeframe confirmed?

The team confirms it after reviewing your application status and itinerary, before you pay. Options and timings can change as check-in approaches, so request support as early as you can.

Is three hours the check-in deadline for every airline?

No. Three hours before departure is VietVisaGo's reference point for reviewing check-in support. Airlines set their own deadlines, which can vary by route and airport, so confirm the cut-off with your airline.

My flight is today or tomorrow. Which guide should I read?

Read eVisa when your flight is today or pending eVisa with a flight tomorrow, and the full guide to an eVisa not approved before your flight.

Is a booking reference or receipt enough to fly?

No. A VietVisaGo booking reference records your service request and an application receipt only shows that you applied. Airlines and immigration need the granted eVisa or a valid exemption.

Need help before check-in closes?

The sooner you check, the more options are usually available. Enter your exact flight times in the visa check, or contact the team with your status and itinerary. Call or WhatsApp VietVisaGo on +61 415 973 380 or email info@vietvisago.com. VietVisaGo, Port Macquarie NSW 2444, Australia.
